Least squares method and its application

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce je metoda nejmenších čtverců a její použití. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První kapitola popisuje základní matematické vlastnosti, které jsou užívány při definicích a výpočtech v dalších dvou kapitolách. Obsahuje např. definici skalárního součinu, váhové funkce, pseudoinverzní matice, Čebyševových a Gramových polynomů. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na samotnou metodu nejmenších čtverců. Krátce popisuje její historii, zaměřuje se na matematické odvození metody nejmenších čtverců pro diskrétní data i spojité funkce a definuje řešení soustav lineárních rovnic ve smyslu nejmenších čtverců. Třetí kapitola se zaměřuje na použití metody nejmenších čtverců. Prvním bodem je použití ve statistice pomocí lineárního regresního modelu. Další bod popisuje aproximaci diskrétních dat pomocí obecných a Gramových polynomů. Posledním bodem této kapitoly je popis aproximace spojitých funkci pomocí obecných a Čebyševových polynomů.

Abstract:

The topic this bachelor thesis is the least squares method and its application. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes the basic mathematical characteristics that are used in the definitions and calculations in the next two chapters. It includes for example the definition of the scalar product, weight functions, pseudoinverse matrix, Chebyshev polynomials and Discrete Chebyshev polynomials (Gram polynomials). The second chapter focuses on the method of least squares. Shortly describes the history. It focuses on the mathematical derivation of the least squares method for discrete data also continuous functions and defines the solution of systems of linear equations in the sense of least squares. The third chapter focuses on using the least squares method. In first part describe use of statistics by using linear regression model. Another part describes the approximation of discrete data using general and Discrete Chebyshev polynomials (Gram polynomials). The last part describes approximation of continuous functions by general and Chebyshev polynomials.
