Belgicisms in the play Bossemans et Coppenolle

Abstract:

Resumé The main aim of this bachelor thesis was to describe the history of Belgium from the earliest years, from Julius Caesar and the Roman Empire, the revolution and religious disputes until the world wars and the immigration waves in the second half of the 20th century. Additionally, we described its language and social situation and sketch a possible development of the events in the country. Even though Europe has been working on its unification since the end of the Second World War, Belgium as well as other parts of Europe are dealing with separatist tendencies. It is uncertain whether the separation or other administration changes will be more prominent in Belgium in the future. The explanation of the division of Belgium into Flemish Region and Walloon Region is based on its historical and language development that started before Christ,more than 2000 years ago due to the fact that Belgium is a coutry situated between the francophone and germanophone areas of Europe. Another step was the analysis of the literary work Bossemans et Coppenolle, in Czech Bossemans a Coppenolle. The play is characterized by many expressions called belgicisms or true Dutch expressions used also in the everyday vocabulary of Francophone Belgians. On the linguistic level, we found many belgicisms.We translated these words into the standard French and classified them whether they are belgicisms true Dutch expressions or words from other Germanic languages. A part of the second scene was translated from French into Czech. Trying to keep the impression of the dialect, the belgicisms were substituted with Czech equivalents typical for colloquial speech or dialect expressions.

Abstract:

Nous nous sommes penchée sur l´histoire et la sociologie de la Belgique et de sa situation politique actuelle. Meme si l´Europe travaille sur son unification, il existe au coeur m?me de l´Union européene des tendances ? la division. Nous avons montré, ? travers l'étude de son évolution historique, qui est assez spéciale, que la Belgique est un pays qui est autant enraciné dans le monde romain que germanique. La pi?ce de théâtre que nous avons analysée est tr?s marquée par le langage typique de la région de Bruxelles au début du 20 siecle, avec ses particularités .lexicales et morphosyntaxiques. Nous avons ainsi créé un lexique qui peut expliquer les belgicismes et donner leur traduction dans le francais standard. Nous avons choisi de traduire du francais en tch?quela Scéne II, qui contient beaucoup de belgicismes. Dans le cas de certains belgicismes, il est m?me possible de parler d'une traduction du néerlandais en tch?que.
