The European Central Bank - strategy, functions and instruments

Abstract:

The diploma work is focused on the problematic of the European Central Bank (hereinafter referred to as "ECB"). The work aims at providing a reader with a complex view on the ECB and analysing its functions, tools and activities which it uses to meet its targets. In the work herein we describe the strategy of the ECB an its tools which it uses for the control of currency policy. Mostly the descriptive and the comparative methods are being used in this work. Chapter No. 1 deals with the theoretical definition, the history of the ECB, its bodies and its position in the European Union. Chapter No. 2 analyses the ECBs tolls which it uses for the control of the currency policy. Chapter No. 3 is focused on the current financial crisis which has impacted not only the United States of America, but also the entire world. In the Chapter herein we try to sum up the method the ECB uses to suppress the financial crisis.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca je zameraná na problematiku Európskej centrálnej banky. Cieľom tejto práce je poskytnúť čitateľovi ucelený pohľad na ECB a analyzovať jej funkcie, nástroje, činnosti, ktoré využíva na dosiahnutie svojich cieľov. V Diplomovej práci opisujeme stratégiu Európskej centrálnej banky a nástroje, ktoré využíva k riadeniu menovej politiky. Použité metódy sú hlavne popisná a metóda komparácie. Prvá kapitola je venovaná teoretickému vymedzeniu, histórii ECB, jej orgánom a jej postavením v Európskej únii. V ďalšej časti rozoberáme nástroje ECB, ktoré využíva na riadenie menovej politiky. Tretia kapitola je zameraná na aktuálnu finančnú krízu, ktorá postihla nielen Ameriku, ale aj celý svet. V tejto kapitole sa snažíme zhrnúť ako postupuje ECB, aby finančnú krízu potlačila.
