Anotace:

The main aim of this thesis is to analyze the representation of African American cultural trauma in the movie adaptations of Fences and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Taking into account the historical setting discussed in the first main chapter and theoretical background information on trauma studies analyzed in the second main chapter, the thesis will equally focus on the narrative and visual representation in the chapters dedicated to movie analysis to find traces of cultural trauma and intergenerational transmission in screen and narrative.

Abstract:
