Comparison of the development of the gold price and the oil price

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce je komparace vývoje ceny ropy a ceny zlata. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit vzájemnou závislost mezi cenami ropy a zlata. K výpočtům jsou použita data a ceny z let 1968 až 2008. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První část obsahuje seznámení s komoditami. Další kapitola popisuje obecnou charakteristiku, využití a těžbu obou těchto komodit. Cenovým vývojem se zabývá třetí kapitola, která je rozdělena na dvě období. V těchto obdobích jsou popsány důvody, které ovlivnily cenový vývoj a pro lepší zřetelnost jsou přiloženy grafy. Práci uzavírá poslední kapitola navazující na cenový vývoj surovin a jsou zde provedeny výpočty korelačního koeficientu, které vyjadřují matematické zhodnocení závislosti obou cen. V závěru je zhodnocena celá práce, včetně hlavního cíle. Provedené výpočty potvrdily předpoklad, že ceny zlata a ropy na sebe z velké části závisejí.

Abstract:

The theme of this bachelor work is comparation of the development of the price of gold and the price of oil. The main goal of this work is to discover the relation between the price of gold and the price of oil. Data and prices from between the years of 1968 to 2008 are used for the calculations. The work is divided into four chapters. First chapter includes the familiarization with comodities. The next chapter describes the common characteristics, usage and mining of both of these comodities. The third chapter mentions the price development, which is divided into two eras. There are described those reasons, which influenced the price development in these eras and for the better understanding there are graphs added in this part. The work ends with the last chapter which follows the price development of these raw materials and there are made calculations of the corelation coefficient, which represents matematical analysis of the relation between both prices. The conclusion reviews the whole work, including the main goal. The calculations confirmed the hypothesis that the price of gold and price of oil mostly depends on each other.
