Comparison of Radl and contemporary theories of nation and nationalism

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem naší diplomové práce, bude precizace Rádlovy politické filosofie v oblasti pojetí národa a jeho kritiky nacionalismu, podrobená konfrontaci současných politicko-filosofických teorií nacionalismu. Metodologicky budeme postupovat literárně kritickou metodou, skrze kterou vystavíme reflexi Rádlovo pojetí národa a kritiku nacionalismu v rámci širšího politicko-filosofického kontextu. V závěrečné části naší práce se budeme tematicky věnovat pokusu o zasazení Rádlova pojetí národa do dnešního stavu chápaní národa v rámci současných teorií politicko-filosofického výkladu nacionalismu. Diplomová práce tak bude svým cílem směřovat, kromě vymezení a následné reflexe, také ke konfrontaci Rádlova pojetí národa a kritiky nacionalismu v rámci moderních teorií nacionalismu, potažmo zjištění jeho aktuálnosti a akceptovatelnosti.

Abstract:

The main topic of our diploma thesis will be the specification of Rádl's political philosophy in the field of the concept of the nation and its critique of nationalism, subjected to the confrontation of contemporary political-philosophical theories of nationalism. Methodologically, we will proceed with a literary critical method, through which we will reflect on Rádl's conception of the nation and a critique of nationalism within a broader political-philosophical context. In the final part of our work, we will thematically focus on the attempt to place Rádl's conception of the nation in the current state of understanding of the nation within the current theories of political-philosophical interpretation of nationalism. The aim of the diploma thesis will be, in addition to the definition and subsequent reflection, also to confront Rádl's conception of the nation and the critique of nationalism within modern theories of nationalism, and thus to determine its topicality and acceptability.
