The Non-homogenic Language in Easy Reading by Cristina Morales

Abstract:

This bachelor´s thesis is dedicated to the novel Easy Reading written by Cristina Morales. The novel itself attracts the attention of many people, because it deals with a delicate and atypical topic, an intellectual disability. Moreover during its reading even more interesting and taboo topics come up to be dealt with and studied. I would say that my thesis has two objectives. The first one would be intellectual disability and EasyReading and to show that a disability is nothing strange, that it is something natural and that disabled people are people like everyone else and they have the same rights as us and we have to help them to achieve these rights. And the second objective would be to analyse the language of the novel, find out if the language is not unified, if the novel contains non-hegemonic language and how it is characterised.

Abstract:

Este trabajo se dedica a la novela Lectura fácil de Cristina Morales. La propia novela llama la atención de muchas personas, porque trata de un tema bastante delicado y atípico, la discapacidad intelectual. Además, durante su lectura salen temas aún más interesantes y tabúes de tratar y estudiar. Diría que mi trabajo tiene dos objetivos. El primer objetivo sería recalcar la discapacidad intelectual y Lectura Fácil y demostrar que la discapacidad no es nada raro, que es algo natural y que los discapacitados son personas como los demás y tienen los mismos derechos que nosotros y hay que ayudarles a obtenerlos. Y el segundo sería el análisis del lenguaje del libro, descubrir si el lenguaje no es unido, si la novela contiene el lenguaje no hegemónico y cómo se caracteriza.
