The last Rosenbergs

Abstract:

Tématem mé bakalářské práce jsou Poslední Rožmberkové. Rožmberkové pařili k nejmocnějším a nejvýznamnějším rodům jižních Čech. Jejich počátky sahají do 12. století. Zakladatelem rodu byl Vítek z Prčice, který podle legendy rozdělil svůj majetek mezi svých pět synů. Každá rodová větev v zastoupení jednoho ze synů Vítka z Prčice dostala vlastní rodové sídlo s vlastním erbem. Mezi nejznámější patří rodová větev pánů z Krumlova. Po celá čtyři století rozšiřovali svůj majetek a vliv v zemi. Rožmberkové se snažili o výstavbu klášterů v jižních Čechách. Největší rozkvět nastal ve 13. a 14. století, kdy byl založen cisterciácký klášter ve Vyšším Brodě. Později klášter minoritů a klarisek v Českém Krumlově a Augustiniánský řád v Třeboni. Rožmberská moc rostla i moc královského dvora, dostali se i do přímého kontaktu s panovníkem téže doby. Nejvýznamnějším Rožmberkem se stal Vilém z Rožmberka, který měl velký politický vliv v českých zemích i v zahraničí. Postavil se do čela odporu proti tureckému ohrožení. Stal se dvakrát kandidátem na polský trůn, aby neohrozil svoje postavení v zemi a rožmberské dědictví odmítl. Za svoje zásluhy byl oceněn řádem Zlatého rouna. Vilém z Rožmberka byl čtyřikrát ženatý, ale ani jedna z manželek mu nedala mužského nástupce a tak se dalším nástupcem stal Vilémův bratr Petr Vok z Rožmberka. Ten se příliš nezapojoval do politického života, jen když to bylo nutné. Věnoval se výstavbě svého sídla v Třeboni, kde rozšiřoval své sběratelské sbírky. Petr Vok z Rožmberka se oženil pouze jednou a ani tento sňatek nepřivedl na svět potomka a tak po Petrově smrti Rožmberský rod zanikl.

Abstract:

The topic of my bachelor thesis is the last Rosenbergs. The Rosenbergs were the most powerful and important families in southern Bohemia. Their origins date back to the 12th century. The founder of the family was Vítek of Prčice, which according to legend, divided his property among his five sons. Each family branch on behalf of one of the sons of Prčice Vítek got their own family residence with its own coat of arms. The most famous branch includes the family branch of the Lords of Krumlov. They expanded its property and had an influence in the country throughout the four centuries. The Rosenbergs tried to build monasteries in southern Bohemia. Their greatest prosperity was reached in the 13th and 14th century, when it was founded the Cistercian monastery in Vyšší Brod, later the monastery of Franciscan and the Poor Claris in Český Krumlov and the Augustinian order in Třeboň. The Rosenbergs?power and the power of the royal court grew and they got into direct contact with the ruler of that time. The most important Rosenberg was Wilhelm von Rosenberg, who had great political influence in the Czech Republic and abroad. He went to lead the resistance against the Turkish threat and became twice a candidate for the Polish throne. He refused the Rosenberg?s heritage in order not to jeopardize his status in the country. He was also awarded the Order of the Golden Fleece for his merits. Wilhelm von Rosenberg was married four times but none of the wives did not give him a male successor, so as the next successor became Wilhelm's brother Petr Vok of Rosenberg. He was not too involved in political life only when it was necessary. He built his palace in Trebon, where he expanded his collections. Petr Vok of Rosenberg was married only once, and even this marriage did not bring a descendant, so that after the death of Peter Rosenberg genus disappeared.
