Bakalářská práce je zaměřena především na hudební dílo s názvem The Dream of Gerontius, česky Sen Gerontiův, z roku 1901 od britského skladatele Edwarda Elgara (1857–1934), jakožto jeho 38. opus. V první části práce jsou nastíněny životopisy jak autora původního textu díla, teologa a spisovatele kardinála Henryho Newmana (1801–1890), tak již zmíněného hudebního skladatele. Abstract:
This bachelor thesis is especially focused on musical work entitled The Dream of Gerontius , Sen Gerontiův in Czech, from 1901 by a British composer Edward Elgar (1857–1934) as his 38th opus. In the first part are outlined biographies of both the author of the original poem, the theologist and the writer, Cardinal Henry Newman (1801–1901) and also the above-mentioned composer.
