Continued fractions and difference equations

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje řetězovým zlomkům a diferenčním rovnicím. Je zaměřena především na úzkou souvislost konvergence nekonečného řetězového zlomku a existence recesivního řešení diferenční rovnice druhého řádu. První tři kapitoly obsahují výklad potřebné teorie, která se týká pojmu diference, diferenčních rovnic a řetězových zlomků. K nejdůležitějším patří konvergence nekonečného řetězového zlomku a lineární diferenční rovnice druhého řádu, která je úzce spojena s Riccatiho rovnicí. Hlavním cílem práce je dát do souvislosti řetězové zlomky a diferenční rovnice, přičemž velkou roli zde hraje recesivní řešení diferenční rovnice druhého řádu. Tomu se také věnuje poslední kapitola.

Abstract:

This thesis is devoted to continued fractions and difference equations. It is focused on the close relationship between the convergence of infinite continued fractions and the existence of the recessive solution of second order difference equations. First three chapters contain necessary theory about the concept of differences, difference equations and continued fractions. Convergence of infinite continued fractions and second order difference equations are the most important terms which are closely related to the Riccati equation. The explanation of the relationship between continued fractions and difference equations is the main goal of this work. The last chapter deals with this relationship and the fundamental role is there played by the concept of the recessive solution of second order difference equations.
