Gramnegative non-fermenters as a causative agent of health care associated infections

Abstract:

Gramnegativní nefermentující tyčinky jsou považovány za významné patogeny v problematice infekcí spojených se zdravotní péčí. Jsou schopny způsobovat infekce zejména u imunokompromitovaných pacientů a problémem je také jejich neustále se prohlubující rezistence vůči antibiotikům. Tato diplomová práce podává přehled druhů gramnegativních nefermentujících tyčinek včetně jejich aktuálního taxonomického zařazení a významných zástupců, kteří se mohou v klinickém materiálu vyskytovat a případně se podílet na vzniku infekcí spojených se zdravotní péčí. Zabývá se také problematikou vzrůstající rezistence gramnegativních nefermentujících tyčinek vůči antibiotikům a popisuje procesy dezinfekce a sterilizace. Praktická část je zaměřena na zhodnocení dezinfekční účinnosti na multirezistentní bakteriální kmeny suspenzní mikrometodou u vybraných dezinfekčních přípravků, které jsou používány ve zdravotnických zařízeních pro různé účely.

Abstract:

Gram-negative non-fermenting rods are considered to be important pathogens in the problem of healthcare associated infections. They are capable of causing infections particularly in immunocompromised patients. Another issue is that the Gram-negative non-fermenting rods are becoming more resistant to antibiotics. This diploma thesis provides an overview of Gram-negative non-fermenting rod species, including their current taxonomic classification and important representatives that may be present in clinical material and possibly contribute to healthcare-associated infections. It also presents the issue of increasing resistence of Gram-negative non-fermenting rods to antibiotics and describes the processes of disinfection and sterilization. The practical part is focused on the evaluation of disinfection efficacy on multidrug-resistant bacterial strains by the suspension micromethod for selected disinfectants used in healthcare facilities for various purposes.
