Specific approaches of nurses to patients with a nasogastric tube in intensive care

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na sledování funkce nasogastrické sondy (NGS) jako spádového derivačního systému ze žaludku, zajištění adekvátního přístupu k pacientovi s NGS v bezvědomí včetně hodnocení funkce gastrointestinální traktu (GIT). Teoretická část diplomové práce je zaměřena na problematiku péče o pacienta s nasogastrickou sondou v intenzivní péči. V další části jsou popsány nejčastější akutní případy pro indikaci zavedení NGS a taktéž je zmíněna problematika NGS při operačním výkonu a v době umělé plicní ventilace. Empirická část byla provedena metodou longitudinální prospektivní studie – sledování bez kontrolní skupiny pacientů s využitím metody zúčastněného (participativního) pozorování za pomocí předem vypracovaného záznamového archu. Cílem studie je zhodnocení způsobů péče všeobecných sester u souboru pacientů na lůžkách anesteziologicko-resuscitačních oddělení a jednotkách intenzivní péče v souvislosti se zavedenou nasogastrickou sondou k účelu derivačnímu a/nebo zároveň k účelu výživnému (kombinovaný účel).

Abstract:

Diploma thesis is focused on the monitoring function of the nasogastric tube (NGT) as the derivation system of the stomach, ensuring adequate access to unconscious patient with NGT, including the evaluation function of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the care of NGT in intensive care. The most common indications of acute cases for the insertion of NGT and the issue of the NGT and at the time of mechanical ventilation was also mentioned. The empirical part was made by longitudinal prospective study (observation) without a control group of patients with using of the participatory observation method using a pre-prepared record sheet. The main goal of the study is to evaluate ways of general nurses caring in a group of patients at Anesthesiology and Intensive departments and intensive care units in connection with insertion of nasogastric tube for the derivation or combined (both) purposes (nutrition and derivation).
