Assessment of English Language Learning Strategies of 6th Grade Elementary School Learners

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „ Diagnostika strategií učení angličtině jako cizímu jazyku u žáků 6. třídy základní školy“ zkoumá používání strategií učení u žáků 6. ročníku. Pomocí dotazníku, který je výzkumem současně ověřován jako diagnostický nástroj, zjišťuje, jaké strategie učení žáci používají, zkoumá souvislost s vybranými proměnnými. V teoretické části jsou presentována teoretická východiska výzkumu, která zahrnují (osvojování cizího jazyka, strategie učení a jejich klasifikace, strategie učení a řečové dovednosti a specifika osvojování jazyka u žáků 6. ročníku). V praktické části je popsána metodologie a výsledky výzkumu ukazující, jaké strategie učení žáci používají, souvislosti používání strategií učení s vybranými proměnnými. Na základě zjištění výzkumu jsou prezentovány návrhy pro rozvoj strategií učení ve výuce cizího jazyka.

Abstract:

This thesis “Assessment of English Language Learning Strategies of 6th Grade Elementary School Learners“ examines learning strategy use of the 6th grade learners. Using the survey which is at the same time being tested as an assessment tool, it finds out what learning strategies learners use, examines the connection with selected variables. The theoretical part presents theoretical background of the research (foreign language acquisition, learning strategies and their classification, learning strategies and language skills, foreign language acquisition of the 6th grade learners). The practical part describes the research methodology and the research outcomes showing what learning strategies learners use, connections of strategy use with selected variables. On the basis of the research results there are some suggestions presented for developing learning strategies in foreign language teaching.
