The Serbian Art under the Nemanjić dynasty: The Church of the Virgin Evergetis of The Studenica Monastery.

Anotace:

Magisterská práce se soustředí na srbské umění na počátku vlády dynastie Nemanjićů, konkrétně pak na chrám zasvěcený Panně Marie Evergetis nacházející se v areálu kláštera Studenica. Byl založen na konci 12. století zakladatelem dynastie Stefanem Nemanjou. Interiér chrámu je dekorován nezvykle dobře dochovaným freskovým cyklem, který byl vytvořen v letech 1208/1209, což nám sděluje nápis nacházející se v interiéru kostela. Předkládaná magisterská práce se zabývá nejenom otázkou konkrétnější datace chrámu, jehož vznik se zpravidla zasazuje do 80. let 12. století, ale také pojednává o okolnostech, které vedly k samotnému založení. Uvádí možné účely a okolnosti, které pravděpodobně vtiskly podobu této stavbě. Krom představení dekorativních prvků a freskového cyklu se práce rovněž zamýšlí nad původem inspiračních zdrojů a pokouší se změnit perspektivu pohledu na předsudky, které jsou s katolikonem kláštera Studenica spojovány i dnes.

Abstract:

The master thesis focuses on Serbian art at the beginning of the reign of the dynasty of Nemanjić, specifically on the temple dedicated to the Virgin Mary Evergetis located on the grounds of the Studenica monastery. It was founded at the end of the 12th century by the founder of the dynasty Stefan Nemanja. The interior of the temple is decorated with an unusually well-preserved fresco cycle, which was created in 1208/1209, which tells us the inscription coming from the interior of the church. The presented master's thesis not only deals with the more specific dating of the temple, the creation of which is usually placed in the 12th century but also discusses the circumstances that led to the foundation itself. It lists the possible purposes and circumstances that probably shaped the shape of this building. In addition to the presentation of decorative elements and the fresco cycle, the work also reflects on the origin of the sources of inspiration and attempts to change the perspective of looking at the prejudices that are associated with the Catholicon of the Studenica Monastery even today.
