Analysis Data Model (ADaM) and statistical reporting in clinical trials

Abstract:

This diploma thesis continues the research of my bachelor's thesis, which focused on the issue of clinical studies and the standardized SDTM data model. In this diploma thesis is presented another related model, namely the standardized analytical data model ADaM. The thesis contains a detailed description of the ADaM data model, its relation to the SDTM model, and the process of creating ADaM datasets. Two ADaM datasets were made during working on this thesis: ADSL with demographic data and ADVS with results and vital signs information. There are mentioned examples of the code that illustrate the process of creating these datasets in the statistical software R. The thesis also contains a comparison of the use of the statistical software R and SAS in the clinical studies data processing. The resulting outputs from the ADaM datasets are presented at the end, emphasizing the simplicity of creating outputs according to the standardized structure.

Abstract:

Táto diplomová práca je nadviazaním na bakalársku prácu, ktorá bola zameraná na problematiku klinických štúdií a štandardizovaný dátový model SDTM. V diplomovej práci je predstavený štandardizovaný analytický dátový model ADaM, ktorý nadväzuje na dátový model SDTM. Práca obsahuje podrobný opis dátového modelu ADaM, jeho vzťah k modelu SDTM a proces vytvárania dátových súborov ADaM. Počas práce boli vytvorené dva dátové súbory ADaM: ADSL s demografickými údajmi a ADVS s výsledkami a informáciami o vitálnych funkciách. V práci sú uvedené príklady kódu, ktoré ilustrujú proces vytvárania týchto dátových súborov v štatistickom softvéri R. Práca taktiež obsahuje porovnanie štatistických softvérov R a SAS pri spracovaní dát z klinických štúdií. V závere sú uvedené výsledné výstupy z dátových súborov ADaM, ktoré zdôrazňujú jednoduchosť tvorby výstupov vďaka štandardizovanej štruktúre.
