Influence of child's mental disability on the life of the siblings in their family

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vztahy mezi sourozenci v rodině, když je jeden ze sourozenců mentálně postižený. Cílem této práce bylo zjistit, jak tento vztah prožívá sourozenec a co mu tento vztah dává a bere. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. Dvě kapitoly jsou teoretické, třetí je praktická a zabývá se výzkumem, který je založen na teoriích z prvních kapitol. V první kapitole je definováno mentální postižení jedince a dále jsou uvedeny a charakterizovány jednotlivé stupně mentálního postižení. Druhá kapitola se zabývá rodinou, jejím významem, významem rodiny pro společnost a funkcí rodiny. Déle je v této kapitole uvedeno, jak se rodina, ale především matka, vyrovnává s příchodem postiženého dítěte do rodiny. Jsou tu také nastíněny fáze tohoto vyrovnávání. Ve třetí části druhé kapitoly je popsán vztah mezi sourozenci, když je jeden z nich mentálně postižený. Poslední, třetí kapitola je věnována výzkumu. Výzkum byl proveden kvalitativně, formou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Výzkumu se účastnili tři informanti, sourozenci jedince s mentálním postižením. Tato kapitola také obsahuje analýzu a syntézu výzkumných dat a porovnání dat s výroky z teoretické části.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the relationships between siblings in family, when one of them is mentally disabled. The aim of this thesis was to find out, how the sibling without disability experiences this relationship, and what advantages and disadvantages they see. The thesis is divided into three chapters. Two chapters are theoretical, the third chapter is practical and focuses on a research, which is based on the theories from the first two chapters. In the first chapter there is a definition of mental disability and levels of mental disability. The second chapter engages in family, its purpose and its function in the society. It also engages in the way, how whole family, especially the mother, accepts disabled child into the family. The last part of the second chapter focuses on the relationship between siblings, when one of them is mentally disabled. The last, third, chapter is dedicated to the research. The research was conducted qualitatively in the form of interview. Three informants, siblings of someone with mental disability cooperated on this part. This chapter also contains analysis and synthesis of the research data and comparison of the data with the theoretical parts of the thesis.
