"Raging Bull". Between reality and fiction

Abstract:

Diplomová práce v prvním plánu kompiluje literárně vědní sémiotický základ, který je shrnut teorií kódu, v druhém se zabývá logicko-analytickým pojmoslovím, zejména Fregovským modelem významu, jenž je dále rozvíjen a slouží jako podklad pro sématiku fikčních světů. Hlavním objektem je srovnání konceptu fikčních světů s komunikačním přístupem Seymoura Chatmana a neoformalistické analýzy Davida Bordwella a Kristin Thompsonové. Snahou takto vytyčeného objektu je přiblížit bádání obou amerických literárních vědců a poukázat na jejich komplementární charakter. V závěru práce je taktéž zahrnut návrh analytické intepretace filmu Zuřící býk Martina Scorseseho.

Abstract:

Firstly, this thesis compiles literary semiotic foundation that is covered by the theory of code. Secondly, it deals with the logical-analytic terminology, particularly with Frege’s notion of reference, which is further expanded and serves as groundwork for the semantics of fictional worlds. The main focus is put on the comparison of the concept of fictional worlds with the communicative approach of Seymour Chatman and the neofomalist analysis of David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson. The aim of this work is to give an idea of the research of both American literary scholars and to point out their complementary character. In the final part there is also a suggestion for analytical interpretation of Raging Bull, a film by Martin Scorsese.
