The roles of ICT in teaching English as a foreign language

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou současného stavu využívání ICT ve výuce cizích jazyků na vysokých a jazykových školách. Integrace technologií do oblasti vzdělávání a efektivní využívání těchto technologií napříč vzděláváním není stále ideální a liší se škola od školy. Teoretická část popisuje druhy technologií a jejich přidanou hodnotu ve výuce cizích jazyků. Dále nastiňuje podobu Akčního plánu digitálního vzdělávání a konkrétní využití technologií. V závěru této části jsou nabídnuty další možná témata výzkumu týkající se této problematiky a budoucí možné využití moderních technologií. Praktická část práce je zaměřena na kvalitativní výzkum formou pozorování čtyř výukových hodin angličtiny. Vrámci tohoto výzkumu jsou zaznamenány i rozhovory svyučujícími a vyplněné ankety od studentů. V tomto kvalitativním výzkumu se snažím identifikovat překážky, ale i výzvy spojené s integrací technologií do výuky. Cílem výzkumu je zjistit, jakou roli technologie ve výuce cizích jazyků zaujímají, a to jak pohledem učitelů, tak i studentů. Závěr práce nabízí zhodnocení praktické části, jejich dílčích výstupů a zodpovězení klíčových otázek ohledně využívání ICT ve výuce cizích jazyků.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis of the current state of ICT used in teaching foreign languages at universities and language schools. The integration of technologies into the field of education and the effective utilization of these technologies across education is still not ideal and varies from school to school. The theoretical part describes the types of technologies and their added value in teaching foreign languages. It also outlines the form of the Action Plan for Digital Education and specific uses of technologies. In conclusion of this section, further possible research topics related to this issue and future potential uses of modern technologies are offered. The practical part of the work focuses on qualitative research in the form of observing four English language teaching sessions. This research includes interviews with teachers and completed surveys from students. In this qualitative research, I aim to identify obstacles as well as challenges associated with the integration of technologies into teaching. The goal of the research is to determine the extent to which technology plays a role in foreign language teaching, both from the perspective of teachers and students. The conclusion of the work provides an evaluation of the practical part, its partial outputs, and addresses key questions regarding the use of ICT in foreign language teaching.
