Abstract:

Bakalářská práce Odrazy antiky v Shakespearově dramatu se zabývá pěti Shakespearovými hrami, které čerpají svůj námět z historie antického Říma. Práce zahrnuje jak tři hry vycházející z Plutarchovy biografie Životopisy slavných Řeků a Římanů: Julia Caesara, Antonia a Kleopatru a Coriolana, tak Tita Andronica, a Cymbelina, tedy hry, které stojí na začátku a na konci Shakespearovy „římské tvorby“. Práce sleduje, jak Shakespeare vnímal antiku a období antického Říma, jakou podobu tento Řím získával v jednotlivých hrách, jak se od sebe navzájem lišily a jaké prostředky Shakespeare využíval k navození atmosféry klasického Říma a antického prostředí.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with Shakespeare’s five plays based on the theme from the history of Ancient Rome. It includes three Roman plays based on Plutarch: Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra, Coriolanus, and two other plays which stood at the beginning and at the end of Shakespeare’s preoccupation with Roman theme: Titus Andronicus and Cymbeline. It focuses on Shakespeare’s perception of Roman theme, on the devices he used to evoke Roman atmosphere and Roman setting and traces the different shapes given to the Roman theme in the individual plays.
