Adaptation of selected record labels to changes and technological developments in the Czech music industry

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá průzkumem českého hudebního průmyslu se zaměřením na specifickou oblast hudebních vydavatelství, přesněji zkoumá adaptaci hudebních vydavatelství na trendy, změny a nové technologie v prostředí hudebního průmyslu. Práce porovnává přístupy nezávislých a major vydavatelství působících na území ČR. Teoretická část je zaměřena na vývoj hudebního průmyslu a jeho současný stav, nové formy distribuce hudby, trendy v hudebním průmyslu a hudební vydavatelství jako taková. Praktická část stojí na základech kvalitativního výzkumu, který je prováděn formou hloubkových rozhovorů se zástupci z vybraných labelů, v rámci výzkumu je využita metoda obsahové analýzy. Práce mapuje aktuální stav a proměnu českého hudební průmyslu v souvislosti se změnami, trendy a technologickým vývojem, nastiňuje jednotlivé hrozby a příležitosti, které hudební průmysl čekají a představuje, jakým stylem se liší fungování nezávislých a major labelů na našem území.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis explores the Czech music industry with a focus on the specific area of record labels, more specifically it examines the adaptation of music labels to trends, changes and new technologies in the music industry environment. The thesis compares the approaches of independent and major labels operating in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part focuses on the development of the music industry and its current state, new forms of music distribution, trends in the music industry and music publishing as such. The practical part is based on qualitative research, which is carried out in the form of in-depth interviews with representatives from selected labels, the research uses the method of content analysis. The thesis maps the current state and transformation of the Czech music industry in the context of changes, trends and technological developments, outlines the various threats and opportunities that await the music industry and presents how the functioning of independent and major labels in our country differs.
