The effect of test transparency on the perceived fairness by high school students

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo ověření předpokladu, že vyšší transparentnost v procesu hodnocení testů povede k vyššímu vnímané legitimity u studentů na střední škole. Studie čerpá z teorií spravedlnosti, zejména z teorie distribuční spravedlnosti. Výzkumný vzorek tvořil 92 studentů, kteří se zúčastnili experimentu. Kvůli silnému zešikmení závislé proměnné byla pro analýzu dat použita logistická regrese. Výzkum ukázal, že studenti nepovažovali transparentní testy za více legitimní. Naopak zásadní vliv na vnímanou legitimitu měla známka, kterou student z testu obdržel. Důsledky tohoto zjištění, limity celé práce a další možnosti navazující práce jsou diskutovány.

Abstract:

This work aims to verify the assumption that higher transparency in the test evaluation process will lead to higher perceived legitimacy among high school students. The study draws on theories of justice, especially the theory of distributive justice. The research sample consisted of 92 students who participated in the experiment. Due to the strong skewness of the dependent variable, logistic regression was used for data analysis. The research showed that students did not see transparent tests as more legitimate. On the contrary, the grade the student received on the test had a major influence on the perceived legitimacy. The consequences of this finding, the limits of the whole work, and other possibilities for follow-up work are discussed.
