Comparison of the method of financing the health system of the Czech Republic and the USA in the years 2011-2021

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje komparaci systémů financování zdravotnictví v České republice a USA mezi lety 2011–2021. V teoretické části je vysvětlení základních pojmů spojených se zdravotnictvím a popis zdravotnických modelů se zaměřením na Bismarckův model a Liberální model. V praktické části jsou oba systémy analyzovány a následně komparovány podle celkové výše výdajů na zdravotnictví, podílu soukromých a veřejných výdajů na celkových výdajích a podílu přímých plateb od pacientů na celkových výdajích. Z komparace vyplývá, že zdravotní systém v České republice je financovaný z veřejných zdrojů více než systém v USA. Dále z komparace vyplývá, že zdravotní systém v USA vynaloží na zdravotnictví každým rokem více než dvojnásobek podílů z HDP než Česká republika.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the comparison of health systems in the Czech Republic and USA between the year 2011 and 2021. The theoretical part offers a description of the basic terms associated with healthcare and a description of healthcare models with a focus on the Bismarck model and the Liberal model. In the practical part, both systems are analyzed and then compared according to the total amount of healthcare expenditure, the share of private and public expenditure in total expenditure and the share of direct payments from patients in total expenditure. The comparison shows that the health system in the Czech Republic is financed from public sources more than the system in the USA. Furthermore, the comparison shows that the healthcare system in the USA spends more than twice the share of GDP on healthcare every year than the Czech Republic.
