Mineralogical and chemical changes on the weathering profiles developed on durbachites in the Třebič pluton

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce řeší problematiku vývoje 5 zvětralinových profilů vyvinutých na durbachitech v třebíčském plutonu. Profily byly zdokumentovány, pedologicky klasifikovány a následně byly odebrány vzorky. Všechny vzorky byly změřeny zrnitostní analýzou, gamaspektrometrii, a RFA. Zrnitostní analýza ukázala dva trendy vývoje studovaných profilů. První trend je úbytek písčité frakce směrem k povrchu profilu. Druhý trend se vyznačuje podobným obsahem písčité frakce v C a A horizontu. Tyto rozdíly souvisí s odlišnou intenzitou chemického zvětrávání. Variabilní intenzita chemického zvětrávání také ovlivnila distribuci radioaktivních prvků (Th, U). Které jsou dominantně vázány v akcesorických minerálech. Gamapsektrometrická měření odhalila oscilace v obsazích U a Th které můžeme vysvětlit kumulací nebo rozpadem akcesorických minerálů. V profilech s nízkým stupněm chemického zvětrávání jsou patrné především oscilace v obsazích Th což je patrně důsledek kumulace U, Th bohatých minerálů, zejména těsně pod horizontem vnitropůdního zvětrávání. V některých zvětralinových profilech je patrný pokles obsahu U na kontaktu mezi pevným a zvětralým (regolite) durbachitem, což souvisí s rozpadem akcesorického uraninitu. Součástí práce bylo také srovnání různých metod určených pro zjištění chemického složení půd. Ze srovnání gamaspektrometrie a RFA s metodou ICP-MS plyne, že pro účely studia půd je vhodnější gamaspektrometrie.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis studies five weathering profiles developed on durbachites in Třebíč pluton. Profiles were documented, pedologically classified, and samples were taken. All samples were measured by particle analysis, gamma spectrometry, and RFA. Particle analysis shows two development-trends of studied profiles. The first trend is the decline of a sand fraction from the bottom to the top of the profile. The second trend is having similar contents of sand fraction in A- and C-horizon. These differences are related to the different intensity of weathering. This variety influenced the distribution of radioactive elements (Th, U), which are predominantly include in accessory minerals. Gamma spectrometry revealed oscillations in amounts U and Th, which is probably a result of accumulation or disintegration of accessory minerals. Profiles with a low degree of weathering are noticeable oscillation in contents of Th, which is caused by the accumulation of U and Th rich minerals. Especially under the horizon of intrasoil weathering. In some weathering profiles, it is seen a decrease in the content of U between solid and weathered (regolith) durbachite, this is connected to the disintegration of accessory uraninite. The thesis was also dealing with the comparison of the ICP-MS, gamma spectrometry, and RFA methods. The results show, that Gamma spectrometry is more suitable due to the similar results as laboratory method ICP-MS.
