Physical therapy for a patient with lower limb nervous lesion: case report.

Abstract:

My paper deals with muscle lacerations resulting in nerve injury. In particular, I wanted to investigate the clinical case of a patient I followed during my internship. The choice was on the case of C.C. precisely because of the singularity and rarity of the event. I also believe this experience is fascinating, because it sees both a neurological rehabilitation, and an orthopedic one, making the path more complex, but at the same time more stimulating from a rehabilitation point of view. I will divide my work by starting to treat the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, then examining each injured, hypotonic or asthenic muscle, thus speaking of their origins and insertion, of their functions and thus coming to highlight all the handicaps that are found in the patient. I will then go on to treat nerve injuries and what they involve, then move on to reconstructing nerve and muscle reconstruction, also considering the risk of infections in such delicate operations. Finally I will address the clinical case of C.C. to which I will apply a rehabilitation protocol to obtain the best long and short term results possible.

Abstract:

Il mio elaborato tratta delle lacerazioni muscolari con conseguente lesione nervosa. In particolare ho voluto approfondire il caso clinico di un paziente che ho seguito durante il mio periodo di tirocinio. La scelta ? ricaduta sul caso di C.C. proprio per la singolarit? e la rarit? del fatto accaduto. Inoltre ritengo tale esperienza degna di nota in quanto vede combaciare all' unisono sia una riabilitazione di tipo neurologico, che di tipo ortopedico rendendo il percorso pi? complesso, ma al contempo pi? stimolante dal punto di vista riabilitativo. Suddivider? il mio lavoro iniziando a trattare l'anatomia del sistema muscolo- scheletrico e del sistema nervoso, sottoponendo poi in esame ogni muscolo lesionato, ipotonico o astenico, parlando cos? delle loro origini ed inserzione, delle loro funzioni e arrivando cos? a mettere in risalto tutti gli handicap che si ritrovano nel paziente. Passer? poi a trattare le lesioni nervose e ci? che esse comportano, per poi passare all'intervento chirurgico di ricostruzione del nervo e dei muscoli, considerando pure il rischio di infezioni in interventi cos? delicati. Infine affronter? il caso clinico di C.C. al quale applicher? un protocollo riabilitativo per ottenere i migliori risultati a lungo ed a breve termine possibili.
