Women Artists in Paris in the First Quarter of the 20th Century

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na umělkyně tvořící v Paříži na počátku minulého století. Přibližuje společenský a historický kontext tohoto období a vysvětluje měnící se postavení žen z hlediska umění. Práce naráží na dobové názory kritiků, kteří rozlišovali mezi tvorbou žen a mužů a přisuzovali ženám podřadnější postavení ve světě umění. V další části poté u třech vybraných umělkyň vysvětluji aspekty jejich tvorby, které stály proti těmto tendencím v hodnocení ženského umění. Pro příklad jsem vybrala Émilii Charmy, Soniu Delaunay a Natalii Gončarovovou, které byly součástí avantgardních kruhů a tvořily v duchu modernismu.

Abstract:

This work focuses on the women artist´s works in Paris at the beginning of the last century. My work approaching social and historici kontext of this period and explains the changing status of women in terms of art. This work reffering to contemporary views of critics, who distinguished between the creation of equality and the inferioir status attributed to women in the art world. In the next part, I choose free women artists and I explain aspects of thein work which stood against these tendencies in the evaluation women´s art. For example I chose Emilie Charmy, Sonia Delaunay and Natalia Goncharova. They were part of the avant-garde circles and formed in the spirit of modernism.
