Abstract:

Dnešním trendem v dermatoglyfickém výzkumu je snaha identifikovat prenatálně vytvořené a zafixované dermatoglyfické znaky jako markery prenatálního vývoje. Tyto znaky by měly být citlivé na vnitřní a zejména vnější faktory ovlivňující intrauterinní vývoj ve specifickém časovém okně, ve kterém mohou tytéž faktory ovlivnit i vyvíjející se struktury nervového nebo pohlavního systému, jejichž prenatální predispozice nás z různých důvodů zajímají. Hlavním cílem této práce bylo prozkoumat vnitro- a mezipopulační variabilitu kvantitativních dermatoglyfických znaků, případně kvantifikovatelných kvalitativních znaků, a identifikovat ty dermatoglyfické znaky, které v různých populací vykazují obdobnou vnitropopulační variablitu, tj. navzdory populačním rozdílům mají univerzální projev. Takové dermatoglyfické znaky pak lze využít jako markery pro signalizaci vlivu určitých univerzálních faktorů prenatálního vývoje. Na základě agregačních meta-analytických metod, aplikovaných na studie zabývající se dermatoglyfickými vzory, jsme nalezli prakticky nulovou mezipopulační heterogenitu v sexuálním dimorfismu frekvence vírů na 4. prstu pravé ruky. Současně jsme identifikovali jasný radioulnární trend (od palce k malíku) v nárůstu hodnot sexuálního dimorfismu. Hlavním přínosem této práce je specifikace radioulnárních kontrastů kvantitativních hodnot vzorů na prstech ruky obsahující radiální ridge count 2. prstu pravé ruky. Z nich čtyři vykazují konzistentní smysl dimorfismu v 21 studovaných populačních vzorcích. Tyto znaky jsou proto potenciálně využitelné jako markery prenatální pohlavní diferenciace.

Abstract:

The current trend in dermatoglyphic research is to identify prenatally formed and fixed dermatoglyphic traits as markers of prenatal development. These markers should be sensitive to internal and especially external factors affecting intrauterine development within a specific time window in which the same factors may also affect developing structures of the nervous or reproductive system whose prenatal predisposition is of interest to us for various reasons. The main aim of this study was to investigate intra- and inter-population variability of quantitative dermatoglyphic traits, or quantifiable qualitative traits, and to identify those dermatoglyphic traits that show similar intra-population variability in different populations, i.e., have universal expression despite population differences. Such dermatoglyphic traits can then be used as markers to signal the influence of certain universal factors of prenatal development. Based on meta-analytic aggregation methods applied to studies dealing with dermatoglyphic patterns, we found virtually zero interpopulation heterogeneity in sexual dimorphism of whorl frequency on the 4th finger of the right hand. At the same time, we identified a clear radioulnar trend (from thumb to little finger) in increasing values of sexual dimorphism. The main contribution of this work is the specification of radioulnar contrasts of finger ridge counts containing the radial ridge count of the 2nd finger of the right hand. Of these, four show a consistent direction of sex difference in the 21 population samples studied. These traits are therefore potentially useful as markers of prenatal sexual differentiation.
