Role of extracellular vesicles in regulation of inflammation

Abstract:

Extracellular vesicles are cell-derived membranous structures, which are considered to be one of the mechanisms of intercellular communication. They enable transport of nucleic acids, proteins and lipids between cells. Their involvement in both, physiological and pathological processes, including inflammation, has been proven in numerous studies. However, the function of extracellular vesicles in inflammation is contradictory, as their effect may be not only pro-inflammatory but also anti-inflammatory. The aim of this thesis is to summarize the role of extracellular vesicles in inflammation and the effect of particular extracellular vesicles on cells engaged in the inflammatory process.

Abstract:

Extracelulární vezikuly jsou membránové struktury vylučované buňkami, představující jeden ze způsobů mezibuněčné komunikace. Jsou schopné transportovat nukleové kyseliny, proteiny a lipidy a účastní se fyziologických i patologických procesů v organizmu, zánět nevyjímaje. Prostřednictvím extracelulárních vezikulů může za určitých okolností docházet jak k zesílení zánětlivé odpovědi, tak i k jejímu utlumení. Cílem této bakalářské práce je charakterizovat roli extracelulárních vezikulů v zánětlivém procesu a popsat vliv různých typů extracelularních vezikulů na buňky, které jsou zapojeny do zánětlivé odpovědi.
