Residents' preferences for rainwater management measures in Teplice

Abstract:

Problematika hospodaření s dešťovou vodou (HDV) je vlivem klimatické změny stále častěji diskutovaným tématem. HDV ve městech má mnoho výhod nejen z oblasti environmentální, ale také z oblasti ekonomické a sociální. Vedle snižování nákladů na odvod a čištění vod tato opatření mají obvykle pozitivní dopad na mikroklima, estetickou hodnotu, zvyšují hodnotu nemovitostí nebo poskytují rekreační funkci. Obyvatelé měst proto mohou mít z těchto opatření řadu pozitivních přínosů. Cílem této práce bylo zjistit, jaké jsou preference obyvatel Teplic k vybraným opatřením HDV realizovatelných ve veřejných prostranstvích (např. propustné povrchy, stromy, kvetoucí louky nebo zelené střechy) a jak obyvatelé tato opatření prioritizují s ohledem na jejich přínosy a poskytované funkce. Pro naplnění cíle bylo k sběru dat využito dotazníkové šetření, uskutečněné formou osobního dotazování. K vyhodnocení získaných dat byla využita regresní analýza, korelační analýza a Friedmanovy testy. Tyto statistické modely byly použity k vyhodnocení vztahu mezi jednotlivými skupinami obyvatel a opatřeními HDV, které upřednostňují. Prioritizace opatření byla vyhodnocována v závislosti na přínosech, které jsou z pohledu obyvatel nejvýznamnější. Byly zjištěny významné rozdíly v hodnocení jednotlivých opatření. Z pohledu obyvatel, jsou nejlépe hodnocena taková opatření, která mají atraktivní vzhled, obsahují prvky zeleně a přinášejí nejvíce ekosystémových služeb. Výsledky ukázaly, že na hodnocení má vliv posouzení významnosti přínosů HDV a čas strávený v zeleni. Hodnocení ovlivňují také vybrané sociodemografické údaje respondentů.

Abstract:

The issue of rainwater management (RWM) is an increasingly discussed topic due to climate change. RWM in cities has many advantages not only in the environmental but also in the economic and social fields. In addition to reducing the cost of water disposal and treatment, these measures usually have a positive impact on the microclimate, aesthetic value, increase property values or provide a recreational function. Urban residents can therefore benefit from a number of positive benefits from these measures. The aim of this study was to investigate the preferences of Teplice residents towards selected RWM measures implementable in public spaces (e.g. permeable surfaces, trees, flowering meadows or green roofs) and how residents prioritise these measures with respect to their benefits and functions provided. In order to meet the objective, a questionnaire survey was used to collect data, carried out in the form of face-to-face interviews. Regression analysis, correlation analysis and Friedman tests were used to evaluate the data collected. These statistical models were used to evaluate the relationship between each population group and the RWM measures they prefer. Prioritization of measures was evaluated according to the benefits that are most important from the residents' perspective. Significant differences were found in the ranking of each measure. From the residents' perspective, the measures that are rated most highly are those that have an attractive appearance, contain green elements and provide the most ecosystem services. The results showed that the assessment of the importance of RWM benefits and the time spent in green spaces influenced the rating. The evaluation is also influenced by selected socio-demographic data of the respondents.
