Occupational therapy in Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na ergoterapeutické intervence u pacientů se spinální muskulární atrofií, zvláště u dětí. Teoretická část zahrnuje etiologii a patogenezi tohoto onemocnění a také jeho formy. Dále jsou zde popsány jednotlivé klinické příznaky a možnosti léčby. Samostatnou kapitolu pak tvoří rehabilitační péče. Praktická část uvádí výčet intervencí v rámci ergoterapie a kazuistiku pacienta s prvním typem spinální muskulární atrofie. Cílem této práce je získat a poskytnout informace o spinální muskulární atrofii a s ní spojených potížích mě samotné, ale také dalším zdravotníkům. Dále má práce ukázat význam ergoterapeuta v péči o pacienty s tímto onemocněním.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on interventions of Occupational Therapy in patients with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, particularly in children. The theoretical part includes the etiology and pathogenesis of this disease and its forms. It further describes the various clinical symptoms and treatment options. Rehabilitative care is separated chapter. The practical part lists the interventions within occupational therapy and a case report of a patient with the first type of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The aim of this thesis is to obtain and provide information about Spinal Muscular Atrophy and related problems to me alone, but also to other health professionals. Further this thesis should show the importance of Occupational Therapist in health care of patients with this illness.
