Calligraphers’ Praise. Twentieth-Century European and American Art Inspired by the Traditional East Asian Calligraphy
Abstract:
Tématem práce je vliv kaligrafie na evropské a americké umění 20. století. Největší pozornost je věnována počátkům expresionistické abstrakce kolem roku 1910 a abstraktnímu expresionismu po roce 1945. Vedle vlivu východního umění na západní je zmíněn také opačný směr ovlivnění. Důležitým tématem je rovněž přítomnost kaligrafie v Čechách.
Abstract:
The theme of this paper is the influence of calligraphy on twentieth-century European and American art. The central theme is the beginning of expressionist abstraction round the year 1910 and the abstract expressionism after the year 1945.
