The conception of the reader in Slovak realistic prose (based on the analysis of selected texts)

Abstract:

The main aim of this master thesis is to examine a reader in Slovak realistic literature. First, we explore different ways how to research a reader in literature. We focus on model reader but we describe also empirical reader. The important part of literary communication is the relationship between an author and a reader. Here we need to know literary communication in detail and we also need to research reception of aesthetic texts. Next part of this thesis is an interpretation of the three realistic texts from Slovak literature with the focus on theoretical background from the first part of the thesis. We were researching parts of texts like narrator, characters, language etc. These parts influence reader’s aesthetic experience. As a conclusion, we found out that the authors had common approach to readers but they were writing in different styles. Martin Kukučín was a little bit away from natural Slovak environment so his text is quite different from texts of the rest of described authors. Terézia Vansová had a different point of view of the world because she described fictive world as a little girl. In another view, Jozef Gregor Tajovský tries to describe the world with its social conflicts.

Abstract:

Táto diplomová práca si dala za cieľ preskúmať pohľad na čitateľa, a to na čitateľa najmä modelového, ale z časti aj toho empirického. Zameriava sa na čitateľa z hľadiska účastníka literárnej komunikácie ovplyvneného rôznymi vnútornými aj vonkajšími faktormi. Ďalej skúma čitateľa ako recipienta literatúry – ako text môže na čitateľa pôsobiť a ako ho môže ovplyvniť. No najdôležitejšou súčasťou tejto práce je samotný vzťah autora a čitateľa. To, ako autor tvorí texty s ohľadom na čitateľa, do akej miery s čitateľom komunikuje a ako sa to prejavuje, ako to vníma čitateľ a či je schopný tento zámer odhaliť. Vybrané texty sú rôznorodé, pretože sme chceli zistiť, či sa mení čitateľ u autora s domácimi textami zameranými na vierohodnosť rozprávania, ako to bolo u Jozefa Gregora Tajovského, ďalej u autora s textami z nedomáceho, cudzieho prostredia s využitím situačného a nadľahčeného humoru, ako to bolo u Martina Kukučína alebo u ženskej autorky Terézie Vansovej, ktorá priniesla do literatúry aktívne ženské postavy s individuálnym konfliktom.
