The Impact of Corruption on GDP in Countries of the V4 Group

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zjistit, zda má korupce vliv na hrubý domácí produkt ve skupině zemí Visegrádské čtyřky. Použitá data v praktické části bakalářské práce byla získána z Transparency International a OECD. Pro praktickou část bakalářské práce byla použita deskriptivní analýza a dále korelační a regresní analýza. Na základě analýzy se zjistilo, že ve všech zemích Visegrádské čtyřky má korupce vliv na hrubý domácí produkt. Z praktické části vyplývá, že v České republice, Polsku a na Slovensku je vliv korupce na HDP silný, nicméně pro Maďarsko bylo zjištěno, že vliv korupce na HDP je slabý. Z praktické části vyplývá doporučení, aby se jak politická scéna, tak veřejnost zaměřovala na boj proti korupci.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out whether corruption has an impact on the gross domestic product in countries of the V4 Group. The data used in the practical part of the bachelor thesis were obtained from Transparency International and the OECD. Concerning the empirical part of the bachelor thesis, descriptive analysis was used as well as correlation and regression analysis. Subsequently, as a result of the analytical work, we found out that corruption has an impact on the gross domestic product in all of the studied countries. Thus, the study findings show that the impact of corruption on GDP in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia is significant, on the other hand, the impact of corruption on GDP in Hungary is fairly low. In conclusion, the bachelor thesis recommends that both the political landscape and the public should focus on the fight against corruption.
