The object of this work was to analyze the characters of the novel The Jealousy of a french author Alain Robbe-Grillet. This analysis was than compared to the theory of a czech theorist Daniela Hodrova, who developed, among others, the conception of two types of characters, the character-definition and the character-hypothesis. Cielom tejto prace bolo analyzovat postavy romanu Ziarlivost francuzskeho autora Alaina Robbe-Grilleta. Tuto analyzu sme nasledne porovnali s teoriou postav ceskeh teoreticky Daniely Hodrovej, ktora rozvinula, okrem ineho, koncepciu dvoch typov postav, postavy-definicie a postavy-hypotezy.
