The Normalization period and the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia in Civic Education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Období normalizace a sametové revoluce v Československu ve Výchově k občanství“ se věnuje tématu komunismu a jeho propojení s projektovou výukou. Pojednává o vývoji pojmu totalitarismus, charakterizuje ideologii komunismu a nastiňuje kritiku komunistického režimu v díle George Orwella. Pozornost je věnována historickému vývoji v Československu od konce 2. světové války a nástupu komunistického režimu v roce 1948 až do jeho pádu v roce 1989. Zmíněn je i vývoj projektové výuky v historickém kontextu, objasněna je terminologie, teoretická východiska a klady a zápory projektové výuky. Praktická část diplomové práce je věnována návrhu a realizaci projektu „Cesta ke svobodě“, jehož prostřednictvím žáci získají znalosti o komunistickém režimu v době normalizace a osvojí si morální hodnoty a postoje nezbytné pro život v demokratické společnosti

Abstract:

The thesis “The Normalization period and The Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia in Civic Education “ deals with the issue of communism tauhgt in the project-based learning. It discusses the development of the term totalitarianism, characterises the communist ideology and outlines the critique of the communist regime in the works of George Orwell. Attention is paid to the historical development in Czechoslovakia from the end of WWII and the power rise of the communist regime to its collapse in 1989. The development of project-based learning in historical context is covered as well as the clarification of terminology, theoretical foundations and positive and negative aspects of it. The practical part of the thesis describes the design and the realization of the „The Path to Freedom“ project and the way how students acquire knowledge about the period of normalization and communist rule and how they adopt moral values and attitudes, which are necessary for the life in democratic society.
