Spiritual film, competent spectator and his experience in the context

Abstract:

Main goal of this thesis is to create hypotheses about spiritual films, spiritual experience providing the watching of these films and about spectator experiencing spiritual experience. First part of this thesis includes analyses of four films (Lessons of Darkness, Klic k urcovani trpasliku aneb posledni cesta Lemuela Gullivera, Ticho nad oblakmi, Mysterious Mamberano). Based on these analyses thesis introduces the taxonomy of stylistic elements, that are present in all of them and then examines these elements in the context of psychology of spirituality and religion, alternatively the psychology of mental states. The second part of thesis includes an introspective description of spiritual experience. Based on this then creates hypotheses about the nature of spiritual experience itself. In the last part thesis tries to find those psychological characteristics, which allow the spectator to experience the spiritual experience.

Abstract:

Hlavným cieľom práce je vytvoriť hypotézy o spirituálnom filme, o spirituálnom zážitku, ktorý takýto film vyvoláva a o divákovi, ktorý tento zážitok prežíva. Práca predkladá analýzy štyroch filmov (Lekce temnoty, Klíč k určování trpaslíků aneb poslední cesta Lemuela Gullivera, Ticho nad oblakmi, Tajomné Mamberamo). Z nich odvodzuje taxonómiu štylistických prostriedkov, ktoré majú tieto filmy spoločné a takéto prostriedky následne reflektuje v kontexte psychológie spirituality a náboženstva, resp. zmenených stavov vedomia. V druhej časti práca obsahuje introspektívny popis spirituálneho zážitku, z ktorého potom vychádza pri tvorbe hypotéz o psychologickej povahe tohto zážitku. V poslednej časti sa práca venuje divákovi, snaží sa nájsť psychologické vlastnosti diváka "kompetentného" prežiť spirituálny zážitok pri spirituálnom filme.
