"The experiences of families in connection with disabled child care (from the perspective of mothers)"

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na hlubší poznání problematiky spojené s nároky vzniklými ve spojení se závažným onemocněním dítěte. Jako metodu své výzkumné práce jsem zvolila polostrukturovaný rozhovor. Na základě výpovědí matek závažně nemocných dětí, které jsem zahrnula do svého výzkumu, jsem analyzovala do jakých náročných situací se rodina v souvislosti s péčí o závažně nemocné dítě dostává. Vycházela jsem z představy, že rodina závažně nemocného dítěte je v důsledku náročné péče o nemocné dítě v mnoha ohledech znevýhodněna oproti rodinám s dítětem zdravým. Ve svém výzkumu jsem zjišťovala, jakou měrou k tomuto znevýhodnění rodiny přispívá společnost. Práce je členěna od teoretického vymezení pojmů spojených s onemocněním a rodinou, přes pojetí onemocnění dítěte z pohledu náročné životní situace, až k samotné analýze zkušeností rodin se závažně nemocným dítětem v sociálním kontextu. Cílem práce je: Analyzovat (náročné) aspekty péče rodin se závažně nemocným dítětem. Vyhodnocení analýzy a návrhy ke zlepšení situace rodin jsou uvedeny v závěrečné části práce.

Abstract:

My thesis aims to gain a broader understanding of the problems associated with demands that arise in connection with seriously ill children. I have chosen semi-structured interviewing as the method for my scientific research. On the basis of testimony from mothers of seriously ill children, which I have included in my research, I have analyzed the difficult circumstances that the family finds itself in with regard to caring for a seriously ill child. My initial assumption is that families with seriously ill children are, as a result of the demanding care for the ill child, in many cases disadvantaged as compares to families with healthy children. Through my research I have ascertained to what extent society contributes to the disadvantaging of such families. My thesis is divided into a theoretical specification of the definition associated with falling ill and the family, conceptualizing the child's illness from the point of view of a demanding living situation, and the analysis itself of families' experiences when dealing with a seriously ill child in a social context. The aim of my thesis is to analyze demanding aspects of caring for families with seriously ill children. Analysis evaluation and proposals to improve family situations are presented in the final part of the thesis.
