Aspects of the success rate in solving problems in physical geography in entrance tests at the University of Ostrava

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zhodnocuje a porovnává příjímací testy na učitelství geografie na Ostravské univerzitě v posledních pěti letech, a to jak do bakalářského, tak do navazujícího magisterského studia. Data byla získána z archivu Ostravské univerzity a zpracována pomocí statistické analýzy. Práce je zaměřená na fyzicko-geografickou část příjímacího testu. Rovněž se zaměřuje na analýzu kurikulárních dokumentů, zjišťuje, kde se měli uchazeči možnost dané učivo naučit. Pomocí již zmíněné statistické analýzy bylo vybráno učivo, které uchazečům dělá dlouhodobé problémy. Na toto problémové učivo byla zpracována alterace do výuky zeměpisu na základních školách a středních školách.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis "Aspects of the success rate in solving problems in physical geography in entrance tests at the University of Ostrava" deals with the comparison and assessment of admission tests for the bachelor and master study programme Geography for Education that have been executed in last five years. Data were obtained from the University of Ostrava archives and processed via statistical analysis. The research aims at the physical-geographical part of the admission tests. Moreover, the diploma thesis is focused on curricular documents analysis and attempts to detect where the entrants had the opportunity to absorb the curriculum. The statistical analysis also provided data that have shown which part of the curriculum is the most difficult for the entrants. The above-mentioned curriculum was thoroughly processed and the alteration was suggested to be implemented into geography subjects taught at elementary and secondary schools.
