The social construction of Theatre of the Oppressed for homeless clients

Anotace:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na zjištění sociálních konstrukcí o metodě divadla utlačovaných, možných pozitiv a negativ jejího využití při práci s klienty bez domova. V teoretické části jsou popsány základní koncepty práce, jako je sociální konstrukce, metoda divadla utlačovaných ve spojitosti s pedagogikou utlačovaných, charakteristiky cílové skupiny lidí bez domova a možnosti využití této metody s touto cílovou skupinou. Výzkum byl založen na kvalitativní strategii s využitím metod polostrukturovaného rozhovoru a zúčastněného pozorování. Respondenty byli lektoři a účastníci z řad klientů a organizátorů, kteří se účastnili týdenní dílny divadla utlačovaných. Z dílny vzešlo závěrečné představení divadla fórum, které bylo prezentováno v azylovém domě pro osoby bez domova. Z výsledků výzkumu vyplývá, že metoda divadla utlačovaných je založena na aktivním zapojení lidí z řad klientů i z řad publika. Její negativa a pozitiva souvisí s filosofickou koncepcí divadla a pedagogiky utlačovaných, dramatickým typem práce a s faktorem práce ve skupině. Jako vhodná k použití se jeví v případě, kdy je cílem kontakt s diváky, potřeba poukázat na nějaký sociální problém a rozvinout o něm diskuzi. Je však potřeba ji vnímat v širším kontextu dalších návazných aktivit. V závěru práce lze nalézt odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku a doporučení pro praxi a další výzkumy.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on social constructions of a Theatre of the Oppressed method and the positive and negative aspects of its use with homeless clients. In the theoretical part the key concepts of the thesis are described; for example social construction, the Theatre of the Oppressed in connection to the Pedagogy of the Oppressed, the characteristics of homeless population and the possibilities of application of this method with them. The research was based on the qualitative strategy and was implemented by semi-structured interviews and participatory observation. The respondents were trainers and participants from clients and organizers who participated at one week workshop of the Theatre of the Oppressed. The final performance of Forum Theatre was created at the workshop and was presented in one asylum house for homeless people. The results of the research show that the Theatre of the Oppressed is based on active involvement of both, clients and audience. Its negative and positive aspects are related to the philosophical concept of the Theatre and the Pedagogy of the Oppressed, to dramatic kind of work and group-based work. Use of this method is suitable in situations, when we want to create a contact with audience or to point out some social problem and discuss it. However, it is necessary to use this method in a wider context of other follow-up activities. The conclusion contains the answer to the main research question with recommendations for practice and further research.
