Hermann Hesse: Demian. About the phenomenon of the so-called non-classifiable work in the contemporary literary context

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the phenomena of the unclassifiable works written by Hermann Hesse, specificaly in the context of his contemporaries. The greatest attention was being paid to the novel Demian. The thesis deals not only with the analysis of Hesse's works, but also with the psychological and social aspects of his life, which were later reflected in his art. The information obtained this way was later used for a comparison with authors who were active in German-speaking countries during the same time period.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem nezařaditelností díla Hermanna Hesseho v kontextu tvorby jeho současníků, přičemž největší pozornost byla věnována románu Demian. Práce se věnuje nejen analýze Hesseho textů, ale také psychologickým a společensko-sociálním aspektům jeho života, které se později promítaly do jeho autorského působení. Tímto způsobem nabyté informace byli posléze využity k jisté komparaci s autory, kteří v německy mluvících zemích působili ve stejném časovém prostoru.
