Applications of LLL algorithm

Abstract:

LLL algoritmus byl publikován roku 1982 jako algoritmus na faktorizaci polynomů s racionálními koeficienty. V dnešní době je využíván v mnoha oblastech teorie čísel a jeho aplikace často vedou k převratným výsledkům. Cílem této práce je představit základní myšlenky a principy tohoto algoritmu, vyložit jeho vlastnosti a rozebrat některá jeho využití v kryptografii. První kapitola je věnována základním pojmům lineární algebry, jako jsou skalární součin a Gram-Schmidtův ortogonalizační proces, a zavedení pojmu mřížka. Ve druhé kapitole je představen samotný LLL algoritmus. Poslední kapitoly se zabývají jednotlivými aplikacemi LLL algoritmu, zejména v oblasti kryptografie.

Abstract:

The LLL algorithm was published in 1982 as an algorithm for factoring polynomials with rational coefficients. It is used in many courses of number theory nowadays and its applications often lead to revolutionary results. The objective of this thesis is to introduce principles of this algorithm, its properties and analyze its applications in cryptography. The first chapter deals with fundamental concepts of linear algebra such as inner product and Gram-Schmidt Orthogonalization, and lattices. The second chapter introduces the LLL algorithm itself. The last chapters show some applications of the LLL algorithm, particularly in cryptography.
