Implementation of mentoring at the University of Economics, Prague

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zkoumáním mentoringu jako potenciálního nástrojev systému vzdělávání studentů vysokých škol. Teoretická část je věnovaná původu pojmumentoring, jeho formám a rozdělení, vymezení rolí mentora a menteeho a jejich schopnostía předpokladů pro vznik mentorského vztahu, popisuje přínosy a rizika zavedení této metodyv praxi a charakterizuje principy činného mentoringu. Další kapitola se věnuje popisuprogramu mentoringu na vysokých školách obecně, a dále se zejména zaměřuje na ČVUT a na mentoringový program na fakultě mezinárodních vztahů VŠE.Kvantitativní výzkum, nacházející v praktické části, byl zaměřen na zjištění postojů a názorůstudentů VŠE na mentoring v rámci vzdělávacího programu podporovaného školou. Zdá simyslí, že by to bylo pro ně přínosné. Jestli by se chtěli do programu zapojit a případně v jakéroli, v případě odpovědí negativní, se zjišťoval důvod. Výsledkem práce je pak zhodnocenívýzkumného dotazníku a návrhy na obecné zefektivnění zavádění mentoringu na vysokýchškolách a doporučení konkrétně pro VŠE.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the research of mentoring as a potential tool in the educationsystem of university students. The theoretical part is devoted to the origin of the concept ofmentoring, it’s forms and division, defining the roles of mentors and mentees and theirabilities and prerequisites for a mentoring relationship, describes the benefits and risks ofimplementing this method in practice and characterizes the principles of active mentoring.The next chapter deals with the description of the mentoring program at universities ingeneral, and also focuses mainly on CTU and the mentoring program at the Faculty ofInternational Relations of the University of Economics in Prague.Quantitative research, based in the practical part, was focused on finding out the attitudesand opinions of VŠE students on mentoring within the educational program supported bythe school. Find out if they think that it would be beneficial for them. If they would like toparticipate in the program and, if so, in what role, if the answers were negative, the reasonwas ascertained. The result of the work is the evaluation of the research questionnaire andsuggestions for general streamlining of the implementation of mentoring at universities, andadvice on how to improve mentoring programs at University of Economics in Prague inparticular.
