Sources of euroscepticism in the United Kingdom

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá podobami euroskepticismu ve Velké Británii. Dlouhodobě se jedná o zemi s velmi specifickým postojem vůči Evropské unii, která tak poskytuje prostor euroskeptickým subjektům. Práce nejprve vyloží teoreticky pojem euroskepticismus, přičemž zde vyjde z běžně užívané teorie Taggarta a Szczerbiaka. Následně budou představeny euroskeptické subjekty působící ve velké Británii a budou pojmenovány jejich specifické postoje vůči Evropské unii. K analýze vybraných zdrojů euroskepticismu a jejich projevů na příkladu konkrétního politického subjektu bude využita diskurzivní analýza, která pomůže pochopit euroskeptické projevy v širším kontextu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the forms of euroscepticism in the United Kingdom. In the long term it is a country with a very specific attitude towards the European Union, which provides space eurosceptic parties. Work first lays out the theoretical concept of euroscepticism, which comes from the commonly used theory of Taggart and Szczerbiak. Subsequently will be presented eurosceptic actors in the UK and will be named their specific attitudes towards the European Union. For the analysis of selected sources and manifestations of euroscepticism, shown on the example of a particular political entity, will be used discourse analysis to help understand the eurosceptic manifestations in a broader context.
