Pavlovské vrchy jsou budovány převážně mezozoickými bradly, která jsou začleněna do příkrovů externích Západních Karpat. Během mladšího alpínského vrásnění vápence prodělaly složitý tektonický vývoj, během kterého byly zvrásněny podle principu vzniku zlomově ohnutých vrás (fault-bend folds). Abstract:
The Pavlov Hills are situated in the NW margin of the outer units of the Carpathian Flysh belt. The Pavlov Hills are formed by Jurassic to Cretaceous preflysh sediments incorporated into nape sheets of Carpathian Flysh Belt (Ždánice and Pouzdřany Units).
