Estate Smiřice and its peasants at the end of 16th centrury and in the first middle of the 17th century

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce má za cíl čtenáře seznámit s panstvím Smiřice v době předbělohorské. Konkrétně jde o zachycení hospodářských dějin, nastínění vrchnostenského hospodaření a života poddaných. Základní prameny této práce jsou urbáře z let 1588 a 1619. První dvě kapitoly se věnují historii panství a urbářům jako pramenům důležitým pro hospodářské dějiny. Stěžejními kapitolami jsou následné dvě. Třetí se věnuje vrchnostenskému hospodaření na panství, které převyšovalo ve sledované době zisky plynoucí z dávek poddaných, čímž se vyznačovalo právě režijní hospodářství. Čtenář se tak dozví o rozvoji již existujících hospodářských podniků a vzniku nových, které znamenaly přínos do pokladnice majitelů panství. Poslední kapitola o poddaných popisuje jejich povinnosti vůči vrchnosti, dozvídáme se tak o peněžních a naturálních dávkách. Vynechány nejsou asi robotní povinnosti. Kromě komparace z dvou odlišných let a tedy nastínění vývoje situace poddaných, zde má čtenář možnost porovnat s jinými panství a udělat si tak představu o celozemském trendu té doby.

Abstract:

The aim of this present bachelor´s work is to introduce the estate Smiřice at the time before the Thirty Year´s War to readers. Specifically it´s about a capture of economic history, a sketch of the nobility economy and lifes of his peasants. Basic historicals sources are two urbuaries from the years 1588 and 1619. The first two chapters deal with the history of this estate and with characteristics of urbuaries like a historical source important for economic history. The main chapters are two consecutive. The third is dedicated to nobility economy on estate that exceeded gains from the peasant´s benefits which was characterized the overhead economy. The reader finds out about the progress already existing economy operations and creation of news that contribute to the treasury of the owners of the estate. The last chapter about peasants describes their obligations towards the nobility, we find out about money and in-kind levies and also about their statue labour. Barring the comparison from two different years and sketch of development of the estate situation, the reader can compare it with the others estates in the country and make idea about countrywide trend ever since.
