Financial Issues of the Czech Professional Symphonic Orchestras

Abstract:

Práce charakterizuje hudební univerzum v ČR se zaměřením na artificiální hudbu. Teoretická část definuje základní pojmy, jež s touto problematikou bezprostředně souvisejí, a popisuje právní formy provozování a způsoby financování činnosti českých profesionálních orchestrů. Praktická část práce obsahuje čtyři případové studie, ve kterých je zkoumána aktuální finanční situace a podmínky provozu orchestrů pomocí sběru sekundárních dat prostřednictvím veřejně přístupných zdrojů. Též je zkoumáno postavení orchestrů v rámci českého hudebního univerza. Dále jsou pomocí sběru primárních dat prostřednictvím vlastního výzkumu formou dotazníků a řízeného rozhovoru hlouběji přiblíženy provozní záležitosti orchestrů a postavení hráčů a zaměstnanců orchestru. Cílem práce je nalezení problémů, s nimiž se orchestry potýkají po finanční a provozní stránce, a možností jejich řešení.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on artificial music and characterizes the music universe of the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis defines elementary terms, which are directly related to the discussed issues and there are described legal forms of management of the Czech professional orchestras. The practical part consists of four case studies, in which the actual financial and management situation are closely investigated through a secondary research of public sources. A primary research carried out by way of questionnaires and an interview follows, further describing the management issues of the individual orchestras, and the position of musicians and other employees inside of the orchestras. The aim of the thesis is to reveal the issues orchestras are currently facing from the point of financial and management view, and to find possible ways how to solve them.
