Reflection of the Vertical Dimension of Landscape in Contemporary Art

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá metodami, které používají výtvarní umělci převážně v posledních dvaceti letech při tematizaci hor, skal a vertikálních rozměrů krajiny. Důraz je kladen na osobní prožitek, provázanost autorů s prostředím a reflexi jejich fyzické zkušenosti. Výčet těchto umělců je převážně z Evropy, ale zastoupeni budou i někteří autoři mimo tento rámec. Důraz je kladen na díla z oblasti prostorové tvorby a performance. Text se zaměřuje na posun ve vnímání vertikálního prostoru v posledních dekádách a to, jak je tento posun reflektován ve výtvarném umění. V praktické části práce popisuji vznik a důvody instalace v Domě kultury Ústí nad Labem, která je navázána na toto téma.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the methods used by visual artists mainly in the last twenty years in thematizing mountains, rocks and vertical dimensions of the landscape. The emphasis is on personal experience, the artists' interconnectedness with their environment and reflection of their physical experience. The artists listed are predominantly from Europe, but some artists from outside this framework will also be represented. The emphasis is on works of spatial and performance art. The text focuses on the shift in the perception of vertical space in recent decades and how this shift is reflected in the visual arts. In the practical part of the thesis I describe the origins and reasons for the installation in the House of Culture in Ústí nad Labem, which is related to this theme.
