Awareness of Persons with Diabetes Mellitus of Eye-Related Complications, their Treatment and Prevention

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá informovaností osob s diabetem mellitem (dále DM) o očních komplikacích, jejich prevenci a léčbě. Teoretická část se skládá ze tří částí. V první části je stručně charakterizován diabetes mellitus a jeho chronické komplikace. Ve druhé části je zpracována jedna z nejčastějších pozdních komplikací diabetu mellitu diabetická retinopatie (dále DR), její patofyziologie, klasifikace, klinické a subjektivní příznaky, vyšetřovací metody a možnosti léčby. Dále faktory, které vznik DR ovlivňují a které mohou ovlivnit sami diabetici. Část třetí se zabývá ošetřovatelskou péčí o pacienta s diabetem mellitem dispenzarizovaného v oční ambulanci, jeho přípravou na vyšetření a zákroky a následnou péči. Praktickou část tvoří kvantitativní šetření, které se zaměřuje na informovanost osob s diabetem, sledovaných v oční ambulanci, o očních komplikacích, jejich léčbě a prevenci. K získání dat byl vytvořen nestandardizovaný dotazník. Získaná data budou využita ke zkvalitnění péče o pacienty s diabetem mellitem.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the awareness of patients with diabetes mellitus (hereinafter DM) of ocular complications and their prevention and treatment. The theoretical part consists of three parts. The first part describes diabetes mellitus and its chronic complications. The second part deals with one of the most common late complications of diabetes - diabetic retinopathy (hereinafter DR), its pathophysiology, classification, clinical and subjective symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options. Furthermore, the factors affecting the development of DR, which may be influenced by the diabetes patients themselves, are analysed. The third part focuses on the nursing care for patients with diabetes mellitus monitored at an eye clinic, the preparation of the patient for examinations and therapy and the aftercare. The practical part consists of a quantitative survey, which focuses on the awareness of the patients with diabetes monitored at an eye clinic, the eye of complications, their treatment and prevention. A non-standardised questionnaire was created to obtain the data. The data will be used to improve the quality of care for patients with diabetes mellitus.
