Tiling a given figure by domino bricks

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se věnujeme problematice určování počtu zaplnění daného útvaru kostkami domina. Ústředním bodem celé práce je vyřešení úlohy pro konkrétní útvar zvaný Aztécký diamant, a to v souladu s metodou řešení použitou v Aignerově knize. Celý text je koncipován tak, že již od začátku buduje teorii, která nejen usnadňuje vyřešení této konkrétní úlohy, ale vytváří i potřebný nadhled, který nakonec vede ke zobecnění zmíněné metody, a tedy i k jejímu hlubšímu porozumění.

Abstract:

In this thesis we study the problem of determining the number of tilings of a given figure by domino bricks. The main point of the thesis will be the solution to the above problem given that we specialize to the Aztec diamond figure, and this will be done in agreement with the method described in the Aigner’s text. We structure the text in such a way that the theory is built from the beginning, which not only simplifies the solution of this concrete problem, but also gives us the needed insight that in the end leads to a generalization and deeper understanding of the mentioned method.
