Abstract:

Cieľom tejto práce je skúmať, opísať a analyzovať postoje univerzitných študentov voči čínskym dialektom (osobitne voči tomu dialektu, ktorý je ich rodným jazykom) a ich použitie, a tiež motivácie, ktoré stoja za prejavmi správania súvisiacimi s použitím jazyka v kontexte multilinguálnej spoločnosti. Tento prístup vyžadoval použitie metód kvalitatívneho výskumu, ktoré umožnili vyhodnotenie jazykových postojov a zabezpečili dostatok materiálu pre ich neskorší popis a analýzu. Jazykové postoje sú zobrazené na podklade dvanástich prípadových štúdií študentov navštevujúcich East China Normal University počas školského roku 2014/2015. Nahrávky rozhovorov boli zaznamenané v období od apríla do júna 2015. Prepis nahrávok a ich následné skúmanie a analýza boli vykonané v júli. V tomto výskume sa podarilo zozbierať dostatok dát, ktoré umožnili zhodnotenie postojov študentov voči ich rodným dialektom, respektíve voči dialektom vo všeobecnosti, a to i napriek jeho rôznym metodologickým obmedzeniam. Výskumnú časť uzatvára prehľad najvýznamnejších fenoménov, ktoré boli pozorované počas výskumu.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to examine, describe and analyze the attitudes of university students towards the Chinese dialects (especially the native dialect of each individual respondent) and their use, and the motivations that lie behind the language behavior of an individual within the sociolinguistic context of a multilingual society. This approach required the use of qualitative research methods which enabled the assessment of the language attitudes and provided sufficient material for their later description and analysis. The language attitudes are illustrated by twelve case histories of students studying at the East China Normal University during the schoolyear of 2014-2015. Altogether twelve interview sessions were carried out during the period lasting from April to June 2015. The transcribing of the recordings and their subsequent review and analysis took place in late July. It is argued here that regardless of its methodological limitations, this research provided enough data for an effective assessment of the students' attitudes towards their native dialects, as well as to the Chinese dialects in general. The research concludes with a discussion of a handful of the prevailing phenomena that were observed during the analysis.
