Nutrient digestibility in pigs fed diets containing Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae meal

Abstract:

Cílem mé diplomové práce je studium vlivu přidání hmyzí moučky z larev mouchy bráněnky na růstové parametry prasat, morfometrické parametry trávicího traktu, stravitelnost jednotlivých živin a viskozitu tráveniny. V průběhu experimentu byly odebrány vzorky výkalů, které byly podrobeny laboratorním analýzám pro stanovení koeficientu bilanční stravitelnosti a zaznamenány hodnoty pro vyhodnocení růstových parametrů prasat ve finální fázi výkrmu. U prasat nebyly zjištěny statisticky průkazné rozdíly (P > 0,05) mezi sledovanými obdobími na růstové parametry. Vliv náhrady sójového extrahovaného šrotu 25 % a 50 % hmyzí moučky z larev mouchy bráněnky neovlivnilo užitkovost prasat a udrželo jejich normální růst. Z tohoto hlediska lze předpokládat bezpečnost této hmyzí komponenty ve výživě prasat. U stravitelnosti živin došlo k statisticky průkazným rozdílům (P < 0,05) mezi skupinami. V prvním období byla vyhodnocena zvýšená stravitelnost hrubého tuku u skupiny s největším zastoupením hmyzí moučky oproti kontrolní skupině. Ve druhém sledovaném období byl zjištěn statisticky průkazný rozdíl (P < 0,05) ve snížené stravitelnosti hrubého proteinu ve skupině s přídavkem 3,8 % hmyzí moučky oproti skupině s přídavkem 2,3 % hmyzí moučky. Třetí období opět vyhodnotilo statisticky průkazné rozdíly (P < 0,05) ve stravitelnosti hrubého tuku ve skupině s přídavkem 2,3 % hmyzí moučky oproti skupině s největším přídavkem hmyzí komponenty. Kontrolní skupina vykazovala v druhém a třetím období průměrné hodnoty a statisticky se nelišila od zbývajících dvou skupin a tvořila statistický přechod.

Abstract:

The aim of my thesis is to study the effect of adding insect meal derived from Black Soldier Fly larvae on the growth parameters of pigs, the morphometric parameters of the digestive tract, the digestibility of individual nutrients, and the viscosity of the chyme. During the experiment, fecal samples were collected and subjected to laboratory analyses to determine the balance digestibility coefficient, and values were recorded to evaluate the growth parameters of pigs in the final phase of fattening. No statistically significant differences (P > 0,05) were found in the pigs’ growth parameters between the observed periods. Replacing 25 % and 50 % of the soybean meal with insect meal derived from Black Soldier Fly larvae did not affect the pigs’ performance and maintained their normal growth. From this perspective, the safety of this insect component in pig nutrition can be assumed. Statistically significant differences (P < 0,05) were observed between groups regarding nutrient digestibility. In the first period, increased crude fat digestibility was observed in the group with the highest proportion of insect meal compared to the control group. In the second observation period, a statistically significant difference (P < 0,05) was found in the reduced digestibility of crude protein in the group with a 3.8 % addition od insect meal compared to the group with a 2.3 % addition of insect meal. The third period again revealed statistically significant differences (P < 0,05) in crude fat digestibility in the group with a 2.3 % insect meal supplement compared to the group with the highest insect meal content. The control group showed average values in the second and third periods and did not differ statistically from the other two groups, representing a statistical transition.
